The provision of Catholic education is one of the important strands of the mission of the Church in the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
The Archdiocese has a fine reputation for providing Catholic schools and is proud of their achievements in serving the families and parish communities across the Archdiocese. Our schools are populated with children who come from varied backgrounds from the Catholic community and beyond and they strive to build truly cohesive communities.
The Archdiocese has a clear vision for providing Catholic education in light of the gospel and the faith of the Church. This foundation places the person of Jesus Christ at the heart of every school community influencing its mission and daily life.
The Birmingham Diocesan Education Service (BDES) provides invaluable support and guidance to our schools. This is well received on a daily basis and supports so many aspects of school life. The services and guidance it provides strengthens the mission of the local Church in providing for the needs of its young people.
In recent years the BDES has embarked on strengthening the provision of Catholic education through the Diocesan Academy Strategy. The work of supporting the creation of multi academy families of schools is transforming the way Catholic education is provided and helping local Catholic communities to work together to provide Catholic education for this present time and future generations.
The appointment of the Director of Education Services is essential to continuing to develop the vision and mission of Catholic education in the Archdiocese. We now require someone to lead the BDES taking our vision forward and working to strengthen the BDES team and support our schools into the future.
The new Director will be a person of faith who has a clear insight and commitment to Catholic education. They will bring key skills to help unfold vision into the reality of our schools.
This is an exciting post and a wonderful opportunity at a time of change and renewal in the Archdiocese.
